On Tuesday, the clubs had the last chance to sign new players. Even the mega transfer worked out – and some Bundesliga clubs were still active.
The transfer window was open until Tuesday. Clubs from Spain, Italy, England and also Germany were looking for new arrivals and bargains. Especially in the Bundesliga, there are some teams that still needed reinforcements. RB Leipzig has found a Sabitzer replacement. And Hertha BSC has also strengthened itself once again.
Griezmann return to Atlético perfect – Saul to Tuchel
The return of French world champion Antoine Griezmann to Atlético Madrid is perfect. The “Colchoneros” announced the transfer of the attacker late Tuesday evening. Griezmann returns after two years at FC Barcelona for a season on loan to the team of starting coach Diego Simeone. Both sides can extend the loan for another year.
The 30-year-old had already played for Atlético from 2014 to 2019, then moved to the Catalans for 120 million euros. In the Barça jersey, however, Griezmann was never quite able to meet expectations, scoring only 35 goals in 102 competitive games. With 133 goals, however, the French world champion is the fifth-best scorer in the club’s history.
As Griezmann’s replacement, Barça brought in former Gladbach player Luuk de Jong on loan for a year from Sevilla FC and secured an option to buy. Meanwhile, Atlético loaned midfielder Saúl Ñíguez for a year to Chelsea FC led by team manager Thomas Tuchel, who also secured an option to buy.
Milan star not to Hertha – Redan leaves
According to information from Bild, the capital club should sign another winger for the offense for this season after Myziane Maolida from OGC Nice.
After the paper had initially reported a loan until the end of the season without a purchase option for the 26-year-old Spaniard Samu Castillejo from AC Milan, it was later reported by “bild.de”: “But no transfer hammer at Hertha BSC!” Hertha had reached an agreement with the player, but not yet with the club bosses of Milan.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Daishawn Redan moves on loan for a year to Dutch club PEC Zwolle. At Hertha, he was most recently used mostly in the U23. Javairô Dilrosun, meanwhile, has joined Girondins Bordeaux from the French Ligue 1.
Schalke sells Hoppe to Mallorca
Schalke 04 has further reduced the size of its squad. The American Matthew Hoppe moves to the Spanish first division club RCD Mallorca and signed there a four-year contract. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the amount of the transfer fee.
“The economic framework of the offer was such that we had to accept it in our current financial situation,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “Matthew is a great kid, but would have had a hard time in the coming weeks as a starting player to get the playing time he personally imagines. We wish him all the best for his personal and sporting future.”
Leipzig brings in Barça talent – Lookman loaned out again
RB Leipzig has quickly found a replacement for Marcel Sabitzer, who left for Bayern Munich. The Saxons signed Spanish midfielder Ilaix Moriba from FC Barcelona. RB confirmed this shortly before the end of the transfer period. According to Sky information, a transfer fee of 15 million euros plus bonuses will be due for the 18-year-old.
