After his generally disappointing time at Borussia Dortmund, Alexander Isak is now flourishing at Real Sociedad. BVB could bring the attacker back on the basis of a buy-back option, but the Basques apparently want to prevent this possibility by all means.
According to “Mundo Deportivo”, Real Sociedad is offering BVB four million euros to remove the clause. The Black and Yellows are reportedly demanding ten million euros. In view of the rumored transfer option of 30 million euros, this is a more than considerable sum.
Most recently, Sociedad sports director Roberto Olabe had confirmed “talks” between the two clubs. Speaking to Marca, the Spanish official said that the Basques would be “happy to change” the terms of the contract. However, a breakthrough does not seem to have been achieved yet.
The right-footer had moved to Dortmund from Swedish club AIK Solna in 2017 for circa 8.6 million euros, but waited in vain for his breakthrough in the Bundesliga.
BVB “follows” Alexander Isak’s development
Due to this, the move to San Sebastián followed in the summer of 2019. In return, the Spaniards transferred 6.5 million euros to BVB. In the past season of the Primera División, the Swede scored 17 goals and was the sixth best scorer in the entire league.
Despite Isak’s strong development, BVB is probably planning without the 21-year-old. Addressed to a possible return of the Scandinavian, sports director Michael Zorc kept a low public profile in recent months.
“We’re following that, of course,” Zorc said in February about Isak’s rising performance curve: “Otherwise, we’re happy that Erling Haaland is here.”
In addition, BVB has a second strong attacker in the squad in exceptional talent Youssoufa Moukoko. Thus, the black-and-yellows actually have no need in the offense.
