An English editor writes of a revolt led by Virgil van Dijk against the planned return of Louis van Gaal. The Oranje star reacts.
Clear words from Virgil van Dijk!
The Liverpool FC defender has responded to a report in the English Mirror that van Dijk is leading a revolt against the planned hiring of Louis van Gaal as Dutch national team coach.
“This story is completely false,” van Dijk wrote on Twitter, “It’s never been so important for journalists to tell the truth and not just make stuff up.”
He then tagged Mirror editor Simon Mullock and wrote: “Shame on you.”

Will van Gaal take over the Netherlands for the third time?
Van Gaal is to take over as Bondscoach after Frank de Boer left the Elftal following the disappointing round of 16 exit at the European Championship. The deal is expected to be announced in the near future.
However, several players, such as van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum, are said to have opposed a second return for van Gaal, who had actually ended his career. According to the report, the Oranje stars would prefer Henk ten Cate.
If van Dijk’s words are to be believed, however, there is no truth in the alleged revolt – or at least he is not involved in it.
