Nintendo will sell the dock of the new OLED Switch separately. This was officially announced by the Japanese manufacturer. This means that owners of the conventional Switch can also take advantage of the new dock.
After Nintendo recently and surprisingly announced a new Nintendo Switch with OLED display after all, there is now detailed information about the dock of this OLED version. Nintendo officially confirmed that Switch users can also order the dock separately via Nintendo’s online store.
OLED dock only available directly from Nintendo
Switch users who already own a traditional Switch but do not want to buy the new system can accordingly still purchase the new dock and use it with their existing console. The redesigned OLED Switch dock features rounded corners and an Ethernet port. It will be available in black and white, corresponding to the two colors of the OLED Switch.
A Nintendo spokesperson commented:
“The white and black dock will be sold separately (without HDMI cable, without power adapter, without packaging) on the Nintendo Online Store. It will not be available in retail stores.”
So those interested in the OLED dock will have to order directly from Nintendo. Retailers like Amazon or Saturn will not offer the hardware. Nintendo has not yet revealed how much the OLED dock will cost in Nintendo’s online store and whether it will be available directly for the release of the OLED Switch in October 2021.
The dock of the conventional Switch currently costs around 75 Euros in Nintendo’s online store with cable and is available on Amazon, among other places. We assume that Nintendo will offer the new dock for a similar price or charge a slight premium due to the additional features. Both docks are compatible with the conventional Switch, by the way.
